provide all dentists with the foundation of their
knowledge, from there they need to systematically and
continuously upgrade their education and training to be
able to utilize the most
up-to-date techniques available to help
their patients. When you meet your FDG dentist, feel
free to ask about his or her training and Continuing
Education, and as a matter of fact, you should consider
it your obligation to do so. The fact that your dentist
has taken advantage of the post-Doctoral continuing
education such as that offered at LVI for example, is testimony to
their dedication to the specialties they practice, and
assures you of the fact that they have been exposed to
information and have obtained training far beyond that
which is taught in traditional dental schools.

Dr. Michael Gelbart, D.D.S.
Dr. Michael P. Gelbart graduated from New
York University with a BS degree and went on to
graduate from the NYU School of Dentistry in
1979. In 1980 he Established Family Dental
Centers in Dutchess County,
Yonkers, Yorktown Heights and Manhattan. Dr. Gelbart attended the prestigious Vegas Institute
for Cosmetic and Neuromuscular Dentistry in
2008.
He holds numerous distinctions and is a Diplomat of
the American Board of Oral Implantology, the
International Congress of Oral Implantology, and the
American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. He is also a
Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and
a member of The International Association of
Orthodontists.
Dr. Gelbart is a former NYU Clinical Assistant
Professor, having dedicated 7 years to the training of
dental students there. He has attended numerous
symposiums and educational forums in implants, sinus
lifts and bone augmentation at NYU and The Connecticut
Implant institute, and has also attended seminars in the
rescue and repair of implants and implant-blades.
Dr.
Gelbart’s emphasis on keeping up-to-date with all of the
latest advancements in dentistry enable him to practice
the highest level of dentistry and provide the best
quality of care in the field. His expertise ranges from
the most challenging cosmetic and restorative dentistry
treatments to the most complicated dental surgeries
performed today.
Since placing his first implant in
1991, Dr. Gelbart has been called on to place over
20,000 implants and has done so for patients both here
and abroad over the past 20 years with an extremely
impressive record of success. His love and enthusiasm
for dentistry along with his amazing skills have made
him a model that his peers emulate and a consummate
dental professional that his patients admire and
respect.
Dr. Rebekah Tannen ( Dr. Bekka)
Dr. Bekka graduated from Lehigh University
with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1990. She
then attended University of Maryland, Baltimore
College of Dental Surgery where she earned her
Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1994. After
completing two years of a general practice
dental residency at St. Barnabas Hospital and a
Fellowship in Special Care Dentistry at The Rose
F. Kennedy Center, Albert Einstein College of
Medicine she decided to focus on pediatrics. Dr.
Bekka completed her two year pediatric dental
training at St. Barnabas Hospital in 1999.
After her graduation in 1999 she practiced
pediatric dentistry in New York City, Dutchess
and Putnam County New York and continued
teaching at St. Barnabas Hospital, as an
associate attending. In 2003 she became a Board
Certified Diplomat of the American Board of
Pediatric Dentistry. She is now committed to
treating the patients of Family Dental Group in
Brewster New York and in 2005
became the Section Chief of the Department of
Pediatric Dentistry at St. Barnabas Hospital.
